On the Search for Something Positive   no comments

There is currently lots of squealing from my housemates downstairs. I think it’s spider related. I’m tempted to tell them about the zombie spiders … but I don’t think it will go well.

Today I handed in a huge, time-consuming project that I’ve been working on for a long while. It’s a strange mixture of relief, joy, and a sort of nostalgia: I started it nearly half a year ago; I grew attached to the characters and what they were going through. But it definitely felt good to get it handed in. And it was nice to get it bound (heat binding … very professional), so that it looks pretty. Yes, today has mostly been a good day.

“Mostly”, because recently the conversation in the house has been quite morbid. The news at the moment is home to a lot of dark, nightmarish stories: stories of students in France being stabbed 250 times, and stories of men being eaten by mice; and it’s all a little bit depressing.

So, I decided, it was time to search for some cheery stuff.

If you use Twitter, or have heard of it, and even if you don’t or haven’t, you might like this. It’s Real Life Twitter, and it put a smile on my face.
And then there is this, which is just quite a nice story I think. It seems that the invisibility cloak is one step closer to completion. Intriguing, and enough to take the mind of horrific stories and scary tales for a little while…
